Create With AI

You have learned that AI can help you make pictures, stories, and music. You have learned that your imagination always leads. You have learned what it means to mix your ideas with AI and share what you make with honesty. Now it is time to do it. This lesson is your chance to actually create something with AI as your helper. No right or wrong answers. No perfect or imperfect results. Just you, your imagination, and a very helpful AI partner.

Before You Create: The Creator's Plan

The best creators do not just dive in without a plan. They think about what they want to make before they start. A Creator's Plan answers three simple questions: What am I going to make? (A picture? A story? A poem? A song?) What is it about? (What is the main idea, character, place, or feeling?) What do I want it to feel like? (Happy? Mysterious? Funny? Exciting?) Answering these three questions before you start helps you stay in charge of your creation from the very beginning. When you know what you want, you can guide the AI to help you get there.

The Big Idea

A Creator's Plan puts YOU in the driver's seat before you even start. When you know what you want to make, what it is about, and how it should feel, you can guide AI like a director guides an actor.

Make Your Creation With AI

  1. Step 1 — Write Your Creator's Plan. On a piece of paper, answer these three questions:
  2. What am I going to make? (Circle one or write your own: a picture, a short story, a poem, a song description, a comic book page description)
  3. What is it about? Write two or three sentences describing your main idea. Include a character, a place, or a feeling that matters to you.
  4. What should it feel like? Choose two or three words: happy, mysterious, cozy, exciting, funny, peaceful, brave, magical, spooky, joyful.
  5. Step 2 — Write Your AI Prompt. Turn your Creator's Plan into a clear prompt for an AI helper. A good prompt describes what you want, what it is about, and the feeling you are going for. Example: 'Help me write a short story about a brave little cloud who is afraid of thunderstorms but saves the day by making rain for a thirsty garden. It should feel hopeful and warm.'
  6. Step 3 — Create! Share your prompt with an AI helper (or, if you do not have AI access, share it with a family member or friend and have them act as your AI helper by responding creatively). Look at or listen to what comes back.
  7. Step 4 — React and Adjust. Ask yourself: Does this match my plan? What do I love? What would I change? What should I add that only I know? Make at least two changes or additions that are completely your own ideas.
  8. Step 5 — Finish and Name It. Decide when your creation is done. Give it a title. Sign it with your name.
  9. Step 6 — Share It. Show your finished creation to someone. Tell them your Creator's Plan and one thing you changed or added yourself. Be proud — you made this!

After you finish your creation, take a moment to reflect. Think about what went well. What was the most fun part of creating with AI? What surprised you? Was there a moment when the AI suggested something you loved? Was there a moment when you changed something to make it more you? Think about what was hard. Was it hard to describe exactly what you wanted? Did any AI suggestions feel wrong for your vision? That is normal — every creator faces moments like that. It is called creative judgment, and you already have it.

Your Creative Judgment Is Real

When something does not feel right and you decide to change it — that is creative judgment. It is one of the most important skills a creator has. The fact that you can tell when something needs to change means your taste and vision are working perfectly.

In your Creator's Plan, what are the three questions you answer before you start creating?

After AI gives you a result, you decide to make two changes that are completely your own ideas. What does this show?
