Policy Balance
Advise a government on AI law, trading innovation, safety, privacy and fairness against each other.
Policy Balance
You advise a government on AI law. Every policy helps some values and costs others — there is no free choice. Adopt or skip each proposal and keep society in balance.
Proposal 1 of 6
“Require independent safety testing before any AI system may be released to the public.”
How does it actually work?
AI governance is the practice of steering how AI is built and used through laws, standards, and institutions. Its defining feature is that real choices involve trade-offs: tighter safety rules can slow innovation; full openness can weaken control; strong privacy limits can restrict useful systems.
There is no policy that maximises everything at once. Good governance is not about finding a perfect answer — it is about making the trade-offs visible, deciding them deliberately, and keeping any one value from collapsing.
