Become a Question Detective
Collect surprising claims and investigate which are true.
Your mission
Become a detective who collects claims you hear, then checks each one to decide if it is really true.
What you'll need
- A notebook for your case file
- A grown-up to help you check things
- The Fact or Opinion lab for ideas
Your step-by-step plan
Collect claims
Write down five surprising things you hear or read this week.
Sort them
Mark each as a fact (checkable) or an opinion (a feeling).
Investigate the facts
For each fact-claim, find a reliable way to check it and record what you learn.
Close your cases
Decide for each claim: true, false, or “still not sure.”
Make it yours
- Find a claim that sounded true but was not.
- Teach a friend your detective method.
How you'll know you succeeded
- At least five claims were collected.
- Facts and opinions were sorted correctly.
- Each fact-claim was checked with a reliable source.
