Free Coding Platforms

You don't need to pay for a coding course to learn how to code. Some of the world's best learning platforms are completely free. They cover everything from total beginner blocks to professional web development to AI engineering.

Top free coding sites. SCRATCH (scratch.mit.edu): visual block-based coding for absolute beginners — no typing needed. Make games, animations, stories. CODE.ORG: hour-of-code activities, structured K-12 curriculum. KHAN ACADEMY: courses on JavaScript, SQL, programming concepts. CODECADEMY: interactive courses (free tier covers basics). FREECODECAMP (freecodecamp.org): completely free certificates in web development, data analysis, and more. THE ODIN PROJECT (theodinproject.com): free full-stack web dev curriculum. CS50 (cs50.harvard.edu): Harvard's legendary intro CS course, free online.

You're 8 years old and want to make a game. Which platform is the BEST starting place?

Picking the right platform matters less than STARTING. Most learners try too many at once and finish none. Pick ONE based on your goal: web design? freeCodeCamp. AI/data? Kaggle Learn. Theoretical CS? CS50. Then commit to 30 minutes per day for 8 weeks. You'll be amazed at the progress.

🎯

Hour of Code

Today, do ONE hour of coding on a free platform. If you have NO experience, start with Scratch or code.org. If you want web stuff, try freeCodeCamp. The hour is the gift — don't put it off.

Free coding education is one of the great equalizers of our time. The only thing between you and a coding career is consistency.
