What is a Robot Brain?
A robot has a special "brain" inside it. But it is NOT made of cells like your brain. A robot brain is a tiny COMPUTER. It takes in information from sensors (eyes, ears, touch) and decides what to do — like turn, stop, or talk. Without its brain, a robot would just sit still!
How does a robot brain learn? Mostly by being TAUGHT by people. Programmers (the people who tell computers what to do) write instructions. Some smart robots even learn by trying things over and over — kind of like how YOU learned to walk! That kind of learning is called ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, or AI for short.
How does a robot know what to do?
Different robots have different jobs. Vacuum robots roll around your floor and clean. Some robots make cars in factories. Some help doctors do surgery. Mars rovers explore another planet! Each robot brain is a little different, just right for the job.
Robot Watch
Find a robot in your home or in a video. (Vacuum robots, smart speakers, even your phone counts!) Watch what it does. What information does it take in? What does it do because of it?
Robot brains are everywhere — and they're getting smarter every year. Maybe one day YOU will be the person teaching a robot what to do!
