Imagine you're playing at the park and someone you don't know says, 'Come see my puppy over there!' What should you do? Today we learn the safety rules that help you stay safe around people you don't know -- we call them strangers.

Who Is a Stranger?
A stranger is anyone you and your family don't know well. Strangers can look friendly, be adults or kids, and might even say your name -- because it could be written on your backpack or shirt! Knowing your name does not mean someone is safe.
The Three Big Safety Rules
Rule 1: Stay at least an arm's length away from strangers. Rule 2: Never go anywhere with a stranger -- not to see a puppy, not to help find something, not even if they say it's an emergency. A real grown-up emergency does not need a kid's help. Rule 3: Never take anything from a stranger, like candy or toys, without asking a grown-up you trust first.
Who Are Your Safe Adults?
Safe adults are people your family has told you that you can trust: your parents, a grandparent, your teacher, or a police officer. A good rule is to pick three safe adults with your family and practice saying their names out loud, so you always know who to run to.
If a stranger tries to grab you or makes you feel scared, yell 'NO!' as loud as you can, and run straight to a safe adult. A loud, brave voice gets attention fast.

Draw Your Safety Circle
Draw a picture of yourself in the middle of a circle. Around the circle, draw and label three safe adults you and your family have chosen (for example: mom, a teacher, a grandparent). With a grown-up, practice saying out loud what you would do if a stranger talked to you at the park.
