Imagine you find a shiny rock on the playground. It is gray with tiny sparkles. You pick it up. It is heavier than it looks! You bring it to school to show your friends. Guess what? You just did science. Scientists find things, look closely, and share what they see. Today you get to be that scientist.

Use Your Senses
You have five senses that help you learn. Your eyes SEE. Your ears HEAR. Your nose SMELLS. Your hands TOUCH. Your tongue TASTES (but never taste something unless a grown-up says it is safe!). When you look at a leaf, your eyes see it is green. Your fingers feel it is smooth. Your nose might smell it is fresh. Three senses, three facts!
Good scientists use describing words: big, small, soft, rough, red, cold, bumpy. The more words you use, the better you share!
A Real Show and Tell
Maya brought a seashell. She said: 'It is white and pink. It feels bumpy on the outside and smooth inside. When I hold it near my ear I hear a soft whoosh.' Maya used three senses: sight, touch, and hearing. Her friends learned all about her shell without even holding it. That is the power of good sharing!

1. Find one object from home or the classroom (a rock, toy, leaf, or spoon). 2. Look at it with your eyes and say one thing you SEE. 3. Touch it and say one thing you FEEL. 4. Listen or smell and say one more thing. 5. Share all three facts with a partner or grown-up. Draw your object and write or say your three facts. That drawing is your deliverable!
