What Is Vibe Coding?
Vibe coding means building something with an AI by describing what you want in your own words, just like you would explain it to a helpful friend. Old-style coding meant memorizing hundreds of special words and punctuation marks, and one wrong comma could cause everything to crash. Vibe coding skips most of that. You type your idea — your vibe — and the AI writes the actual code for you. This does not mean code disappears. The AI still makes real code in languages like HTML or JavaScript. You just do not have to type every piece of it yourself.
In vibe coding, your description IS the program. The more clearly you describe what you want — the colors, the sounds, what happens when you click — the better the AI understands your idea. Being specific is a superpower!
Watching the AI Work Step by Step
Here is what happens when you type an idea into an AI assistant: Step 1 — You describe your idea. Example: Make a page with a big yellow sun that spins slowly. Step 2 — The AI reads your words carefully. It figures out all the pieces it needs: a circle shape, the color yellow, and spinning movement. Step 3 — The AI writes code. It might write in a language called HTML, CSS, or JavaScript. You do not see this happen — it occurs very fast inside the computer. Step 4 — The result appears. A spinning yellow sun shows up on your screen. If it is not quite right, you just type more words to fix it: make the sun bigger or make it spin faster.

Writing Good Instructions for an AI
The AI can only work with what you give it. Fuzzy instructions give fuzzy results! Fuzzy: Make something fun. Better: Make a red ball that bounces up and down when I click it. Here are tips for writing good AI instructions: - Say the color you want - Say the shape, animal, or character - Say what happens (does it move? make a sound? change color?) - Say where things should go (top, middle, big, tiny) If the first result is not right, you do not start over — you just describe what needs to change.
Think of the AI as a very fast builder who does exactly what you say. You are the director with the vision. The AI is the crew that builds it. Great directors give clear directions — and so do great vibe coders!

1. Think of something simple you would love to see on a screen: a colorful animal, a moving shape, a short story, or a tiny game. 2. On paper, write at least 3 sentences describing it. Include: the main character or object, what color it is, and what it does. 3. Read your sentences out loud. Do they give enough information? Add one more detail if you can. 4. If you have access to an AI tool (ask a grown-up to help), type your description in and watch what appears! 5. Write down one thing the AI did right and one thing you would change by typing a follow-up instruction.
