Adventure Story with AI

Did you know computers can now help you TELL STORIES? A tool called AI (Artificial Intelligence) can write along with you. You tell it what you want, and it writes the next part. Today we will make a whole adventure story together!

What Is an AI Helper?

Think of AI like a very smart story friend who has read millions of books. When you ask it "tell me a story about a brave mouse," it makes up a new one just for you. But the AI is only as good as the QUESTIONS you ask it. Better questions = better stories.

How to Start Your Story

Begin with three things:\n\n1. A HERO — who is the story about? (a kid, a cat, a robot?)\n2. A PLACE — where does it happen? (a forest, space, the ocean?)\n3. A PROBLEM — what is wrong? (a dragon stole the moon, someone is lost)\n\nTell the AI all three. Example: "Write a short adventure story about a girl named Mia, her robot dog Bolt, who are lost in a glowing forest, and must find their way home by morning."

What three things should you tell the AI to start a story?

When the AI Gets It Wrong

Sometimes the AI writes something weird. Maybe it makes your hero a grown-up when you wanted a kid. Maybe the story is too scary. Do not give up! Just tell the AI: "Change the hero to an 8-year-old girl" or "Make it less scary, for a 6-year-old." You are the BOSS of your story.

🎯

Write Your First AI Adventure

With a grown-up, open an AI helper (ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini are free to try).\n\n1. Think of YOUR hero, place, and problem. Write them on paper first.\n2. Type a sentence to the AI: "Please write a short adventure story for a kid, about [your hero] in [your place] who must [solve your problem]."\n3. Read what the AI wrote.\n4. Did you like it? If not, ask it to change one thing: the ending, the hero's name, a new twist.\n5. Do this 3 times — each time, make the story better.\n6. Read your favorite version aloud to a family member.

🎯

Draw What the AI Wrote

1. After your AI helped you make a story, pick your favorite part.\n2. Close your eyes and imagine the scene.\n3. Draw it on paper with crayons or markers.\n4. Write ONE sentence below your picture describing what is happening.\n5. Staple or tape your pictures together to make your very own AI-ADVENTURE BOOK.

Rules for Working With AI

1. Never give the AI your last name, address, or phone number.\n2. Always have a grown-up with you when you use AI.\n3. If the AI writes something mean or scary, close the app and tell an adult.\n4. Remember: the AI is a TOOL, not a person. You are the creator — it is the helper.

What should you do if the AI writes a story you do NOT like?
